Magazine paper generally includes
newsprint, calendered magazine paper, offset paper, light coated paper, medium
coated paper and glossy or matte paper, which reflects the quality of paper
from low to high, and the price is the same.
In the magazine
printing China proceeding, each kind of paper has its own characteristics:
newsprint is not coated, most of which are made of mechanical pulp, with the
weight of 38-48 grams; press glossy magazine paper is made of press glossy
newsprint, which is not coated, most of which are made of mechanical pulp, with
the weight of 42 grams or more, but this kind of paper is still rare in
mainland China; offset paper is not coated, most of which are chemical pulp,
with the weight of 70 grams or more, China Internal use is very common; LWC is
a single-layer coating, most of which are based on mechanical pulp and have
luster. Now there is also a kind of high white light coated paper, which is
improved on the basis of the original light coated paper to make it have better
whiteness; medium coated paper (MWC) is double-layer coating, most of which are
made of mechanical pulp, with the weight of more than 70g; copperplate paper is
the most familiar paper, most of which are made of chemical pulp, with
single-layer, double-layer and three-layer coating, and its coating and paper
surface treatment, Different paper mills have different technologies and
different quality. In fact, there is a cross between the coated paper and the
coated paper. The quality of the coated paper is better than that of the coated
paper, but the coated paper is better than that of the coated paper. This is
because the shielding rate of the mechanical pulp is better than that of the
chemical pulp. As for the three-layer coated copperplate paper, some people
call it real powder. So what kind of magazine chooses what kind of paper?
Generally speaking, high-end clothing and
life themed magazines mostly use medium coated paper and medium coated paper
with a weight of ≥ 70g; high-quality monthly and professional magazines use medium
coated paper and high whiteness light coated paper with a weight of ≥ 70g; general quality monthly and weekly
magazines usually use high white light coated paper and light coated paper with
a weight of ≥ 60g; large circulation weekly and comprehensive magazines generally
use light coated paper and light calendered paper with a weight of ≥ 70g Weight ≥ 65g.
In addition, there are the following rules
in the selection of weight: 36-54g paper is generally used for magazines and
product catalogs with high circulation; 60-80g paper is used for high-quality
monthly magazines; 65-150g paper is used for professional magazines and
customer magazines; 75-115g paper is used for high-quality magazines. Of
course, this is only a general analysis. Various magazines will have various specific
changes in the specific printing order.
Finally, we want to say that at present,
magazine paper is developing towards low weight, good whiteness and
printability, which can not only reduce the consumption of paper, but also
further save by reducing the cost of mailing.
